History is alive and well in Williamsburg.

Settled by the English in the early 1600’s, this once wooded area was home to a group of Native American Indians called the Powhatan Confederacy. The rivers which flow throughout the area were once the hub of travel in the area, providing easy access and travel to areas perhaps unreachable on land.

The area became more popular with the European settlers in very little time and the native tribes began to leave to more remote areas. Battles were not uncommon between the two peoples in an effort to control the area. Plantations and small areas began to grow up and the area became predominantly a European area.

A prominent site during the American Civil War and also the Revolutionary War, Williamsburg’s rich history of both war and peace remains today for all to see and learn about.

Of course, the most visited tourist destination in Williamsburg is Colonial Williamsburg which is a living history museum illustrating the life and culture of the 1700’s. Other great places to visit include the Williamsburg Winery, the Williamsburg Botanical Garden and theme parks such as Busch Gardens and Water Country USA.

Outrigger Vacation Club invites its members to spend 7 days at the Greensprings Vacation Resort in Williamsburg. Adjacent to a golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus, you will receive wonderful services as well as great amenities at this first class resort. Whirlpools, fireplaces in each room plus both an indoor and outdoor pool and tennis courts are located at your resort for your convenience. You will also find shuffleboard, volleyball, mini golf and barbecue areas.

You will also find 24 hour front desk service, a fitness center, security around the clock, laundry facilities, air conditioning, coffeemaker, full kitchen and an answering service for your convenience.

Located on an area that was once a colonial plantation called Green Spring. Home to Sir William Berkeley, Royal Governor of the Virginia colony during the civil war.
